Child abuse is a widespread national and international problem. A child is suffering from abuse when they are subjected to behavior that in physically, psychologically, or emotionally harmful. Child maltreatment can have an extremely detrimental effect on a child’s social and emotional development. Abuse does not necessarily include physical violence.
