The CAP Impact

Mentoring has many benefits (1) It is a way for me to give back to the community some of the time, effort, and knowledge that I have learned and experienced through the years. (2)  It is a way for me to interact with children to help steer them in the right direction and let them know that someone is concerned whether they succeed or not. (3) It is a blessing and very rewarding to see students that you have mentored finish school, go to college and get careers to become productive citizens. (4)Mentoring is important because you can influence children to be successful and perhaps they too will become a mentor someday.  -Harvey L. Jones, Mentor 2014/2015

I think the greatest moment when I realized I was making a difference with my mentee was the last day of kindergarten. I had baked cup cakes for his whole class to pass out. All year he had hardly called me by my name but that day his teacher asked him to introduce me to his class. He stood by me and put his arm around my waist and said, this is my own special friend. If I was not hooked before I sure was then. That was six years ago. Now he is in 6th grade at Warren Middle School.  -Pat Engler, CAP Center Mentor
